Overview

Restoran Pik Wah stands as a beacon of authentic Cantonese dining in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, nestled within the historic Stadium Chinwoo along Jalan Hang Jebat. This Michelin-recognized establishment masterfully bridges traditional flavors with a refined dining experience, drawing both longtime locals and discerning food lovers alike.

The menu reads like a tribute to classic Cantonese dishes, with standout offerings such as the Steamed Fresh Loongfoo Grouper, which captures the natural sweetness and delicate texture of the fish. The Signature Crispy Cha-Siew is a revelation—caramelized edges yield a fragile crispness while the smoky barbecue glaze balances sweetness without overwhelming. Another highlight, the Lotus Root Stir Fry, provides a vibrant crunch, marrying simple ingredients with precise technique. Dishes like the Cashew Nuts Chicken in Yam Basket and Braised Mutton in Claypot further underscore the depth of flavors and comforting textures that the kitchen consistently delivers.

Set within a thoughtfully renovated space originally a martial arts stadium, the ambiance skillfully blends heritage with comfort. The bright, clean setting accommodates group dining with banquet-style round tables, yet maintains intimacy. Private rooms upstairs cater to larger parties seeking exclusivity, making it a favored spot for family gatherings and celebrations, especially among an audience that appreciates nostalgic Cantonese fare executed with care.

Patrons frequently praise the attentive and prompt service, which rises to meet high expectations despite the restaurant’s bustling atmosphere. The efficient ordering system and courteous staff enhance the overall experience, even during peak hours when the kitchen takes time to showcase their craftsmanship. The inclusion of valet parking and a reasonable flat parking rate adds a layer of convenience often hard to find in downtown Kuala Lumpur.

While some may find certain dishes echo familiar Cantonese themes common in many restaurants, Restoran Pik Wah differentiates itself through consistent quality and honoring tradition without compromise. Those seeking unique twists may look elsewhere, but the comfort and authenticity here remain unmatched for many.

In sum, Restoran Pik Wah offers a fine balance of heritage, quality, and hospitality, making it an enduring landmark for Cantonese cuisine in Kuala Lumpur. Whether visiting for a memorable seafood claypot or to savor the smoky goodness of their charcoal-grilled char siew, diners can expect a meal steeped in flavor and tradition within a welcoming, refined setting.

Pik Wah continues to deliver that old-school Cantonese comfort done right. The deep-fried “wun yu” with soy sauce was easily the highlight — crispy on the outside, tender inside, and coated with a rich, fragrant soy glaze that hit all the right notes. Their char siew, done in the fried style, was surprisingly enjoyable too — caramelised edges, a slight crisp, and a good balance of sweetness without being cloying. The venison black pepper was flavourful with a solid wok hei, though the meat was sliced quite thin. Personally, I would have preferred thicker cuts for a juicier bite, but the overall taste was still very good. The mixed vegetables with lotus root provided a refreshing, crunchy balance to the meal — simple, clean, and well-executed.

The service at the restaurant was okay, and the food was good. However, to me, it tasted quite standard — similar to many other Chinese restaurants. There wasn’t anything particularly special or unique that stood out. What really affected the overall experience was the parking situation. Parking is very limited, and I had no choice but to use the jockey service, which cost RM20. Honestly, the food and dining experience didn’t feel worth the extra RM20 just for parking. I feel the restaurant should consider offering more convenient or affordable parking options for customers.

Food: 5/5 Stars Really surprised by the signature charcoal BBQ charsew which was perfectly caramelised and full of smoky sweetness. Truly crispy outside and tender inside. The seafood claypot was also so tasty and flavourful. The only thing was that the food portions were not generous. Environment: 5/5 Stars The whole place was very clean and bright. Seating arrangement all in banquet round table mode but still reserved privacy for the customers and quite comfortable. Upstairs had private rooms for 12 pax with minimum spending of RM1,500. Toilet was also clean with no smell. Service: 5/5 Stars We called but was told it was full house and no more reservation to be accepted. We then walked in and waited for 30 minutes plus for the seat. The waiters and waitresses were attentive and courteous in answering our queries and allowing us to order the food in advance. Food and drink serving was prompt, with waiting time less than 15 minutes. Parking: 5/5 Stars Surprisingly the restaurant in down town KL had own private car park with many lots, and charged only the Buddha rate of RM5 flat per entry. Also had valet parking at RM20 per entry. Location: 5/5 Stars Right in the down town of KL, next to the famous landmark 118 Tower. Easily accessible. Price: 3/5 Stars The menu offered pricey items which were further subject to 10% service charge and 6% SST. It seemed inevitable with the restaurant's Michelin status. Overall: 5 Stars

This long-standing Michelin-recognized restaurant has been part of my life since childhood — a true KL gem filled with memories for many locals. The food here is always consistently good and authentic, never disappointing. It’s a great spot to bring Chinese parents or elders for a comforting meal. They’ve recently moved to a new location, which is much more comfortable and less noisy. You can now linger longer, but be warned — the air-conditioning is freezing! Bring a jacket if you tend to get cold. You can also bring your own fresh fish — they’ll handle and cook it for RM60. Definitely make a reservation, especially on weekends. It gets packed, and during peak hours, food can take 30 minutes or more to arrive. Order early or don’t come too hungry. Food tips: • Pattaya fried fish and almond chicken are must-tries. • Pork knuckle with sauce is just average — wouldn’t recommend. Valet parking is available at RM20, and note that VIP rooms require a minimum spend of RM3,000.

They have now won 3 years Michelin award in a row including the latest 2025. I'd say they deserve this award. Portion of food is big, beautiful plating on each dish. Delicious taste and happy to report hardly taste any MSG. Reasonable pricing. Attentive staff. Place is on a former Chin Woo martial arts and cultural club stadium, renovated to comfortable restaurant ambience. Clean toilet.
